乐声与影像——萨义德音乐批评与鲁迅电影批评对读

内容提要：萨义德和鲁迅都是近世罕见的批评家，他们把批评视为“提升生命”的重要活动。经典研究把萨义德的音乐批评和鲁迅的电影批评排斥在他们的思想体系之外，却反证了这两种批评对理解萨义德和鲁迅有着不可化约的意义。萨义德和鲁迅都遭遇了两难处境，总是在社会现实的公共批评面向与私人审美的面向之间移动和分裂。萨义德以阐发式的乐评直面两难，鲁迅则在其中不断挣扎而形成了独特的杂文风。随着死亡临近，萨义德日益偏向音乐的意义问题，强调音乐表演与人文主义的关联。鲁迅却始终把电影视作获取生命体验的途径，以怀疑的眼光审视批评的僵化。唯有正视他们的两难，才能够更好地理解两位批评家相通的气质、不同的个人立场及其思想的独特价值。

Title: Tones and Images: Parallel Reading of Edward Said’s Musical Criticism and Lu Xun’s Film Criticism
Abstract: Edward W. Said and Lu Xun are rare critics in modern times, who regard criticism as a vital practice for “the enhancement of life”. Traditional academic research has marginalized Said’s musical criticism and Lu Xun’s film criticism from their ideological frameworks, which in turn proves that these two critical discourses hold irreducible significance for understanding their thoughts. Both thinkers were caught in a dilemma, constantly shifting and torn between the public social dimension of criticism and the private aesthetic dimension. Said confronted this predicament through interpretative music criticism, while Lu Xun lingered in inner struggle and ultimately forged his distinctive essay style. As his life drew to an end, Said grew increasingly preoccupied with the existential meaning of music, emphasizing the connection between musical performance and humanism. Lu Xun, by contrast, always viewed cinema as a channel to attain individual life experience, and examined rigidified critical conventions with persistent skepticism. Only by acknowledging their shared predicaments can we fully grasp their congruent critical temperaments, divergent personal stances, and the unique value embedded in their ideologies.
